RMEx allows a payment arrangement to be set up for a debtor. A payment arrangement refers to an agreement where a fixed installment is paid at a pre-defined frequency. (e.g. monthly) While payment arrangements allow accounts to be worked without human intervention, accounts can be presented for follow-up when payments are missed. Payment arrangements work as follows. a) An arrangement is set up for the debtor and not for individual accounts. b) There is an option to allow legal balances to be included in the arrangement. If this option is not selected, only non-legal accounts are eligible to be included in the arrangement. c) A payment arrangement can be set with a frequency of monthly, bi-monthly (two times a month) or based on a given number of days. (e.g. every 7 calendar days) d) It is possible to set up a downpayment amount. If a downpayment is set up and this amount is not received on the due date, the account is presented as a broken promise. No further processing takes place. f) It is possible to generate a letter to the debtor (a reminder) before the due date of each installment. g) If a payment is missed, a late letter can be generated. h) If a payment is missed, the account can be presented to a collector as a broken promise. It is also possible for the system to apply a Smart Code, which can take an action , when a payment is missed. A grace period can be also be defined. i) When a payment is missed and the account is eligible to be sent to a collector, it is possible to suspend the arrangement. The arrangement is then not applicable, and has to be set up again if required. j) If a follow-up date is set up on the account at the time the arrangement is defined, this will present the account on that date even in the case where a debtor did not miss a payment. This feature can be used to schedule a review of a debtor's account, for a possible increase in the installment amount. Options relating - You can specify a maximum number of installments, a to installments minimum installment amount and/or the minimum installment amount as a percentage of the the qualifying amount. This allows you to define the requirements for setting up a payment arrangement, and a collector will not be allowed to set up an arrangement if there are special conditions and they are not met. A manager (or any user who is not a collector) is able to set up an arrangement regardless of the special conditions. RMEx also allows you to setup different rules for different clients. Payment arrangements provide an excellent method of working accounts where the debtor is making scheduled payments. If the debtor makes payments as agreed, the account is not presented to a collector. If a payment is missed, management can take appropriate action, and along with the optional reminders and late letters, accounts can be followed-up in a timely manner.
